The Pink Spiders, who were struggling to occupy the top position in the regular season, stumbled after being defeated by AI Peppers 25-18, 22-25, 23-25, 14-25.
The defeat meant the Pink Spiders failed to move to the top of the standings, shifting Hillstate. With two games remaining, one of which is against Hillstate, the Pink Spiders are in danger of failing to finish at the top of the regular season standings.

The bad results against AI Peppers were greeted coldly by Marcello Abbondanza. Quoted from The Spike, Abbondanza considered the match against AI Peppers to be a bad match for the Pink Spiders.
“There are many reasons. The setters made passes that the attackers couldn’t hit at all, and the blocking and defense were not done well,” said Abbondanza, quoted by The Spike .
“It was an important match to win first place in the regular league, but I don’t think I was mentally ready for that [losing],” added Abbondanza.

The Italian coach also admitted that he did not know the reason why the Pink Spiders lost to AI Peppers. The Pink Spiders, who won the first set, failed to maintain their good performance until the match was over.
“In particular, in the third set we were so helpless that we lost by 11 points,” said Abbondanza.
“This is a game that should make players feel ashamed,” Abbondanza continued.
